NEW ZEALANDS BIG HORN SHEEP

The Arapawa Ram is New Zealands version of the Big Horn Sheep. Introduced, like all of New Zealands animals, they were the first animal to be liberated on our shores. Meat and wool production were the main asset of the sheep, until breeding of better-quality sheep breeds made them redundant. Now, hunters get to enjoy the thrill of chasing the “Wiley” rams. While quite a small animal, with dreadlock type wool and some impressive horns, they are survivors and worthy hunt.

Monarch prides itself on being able to deliver the best outdoor experience, and helping the hunter achieve their goal. Monarch’s guides are all excellent hunters and pride themselves on delivery a top quality hunt.

Our clients have full exclusive use of our stations, to ensure the emphasis on privacy and making your dream hunt come true.

YOUR HUNTERS SANCTUARY

Monarchs hunting areas offer something for all hunters. Whether it’s 5 star luxury or a humble mountain abode, Monarch has something for everyone. Rolling hills to high mountain crags, rippling tussocks to bush clad gullies, sometimes you forget to hunt when immersed in our hunting playground.

Red Stag, Elk, Fallow, Chamois, Tahr and Arapawa Rams each occupy their own spaces. From spectacular high country, with crystal clear mountain rivers, native bush gullies and open tussock mountain tops, a trip here and you won’t want to leave. Our hunting areas are close by to other activities so families are well entertained and looked after if they are non hunters.

One own Firey Peak Station, is located at the foot of the southern alps. It is a remarkable property amongst some truly big mountains. Holding some great animals, as a hunter you won’t leave disappointed! With Mt Hutt as a backdrop, and the mighty Rakaia River a stone’s throw away, this location certainly is hard to beat.

Probably the best outfitted hunt I have ever been on. Beautiful lodge and property. The guides were top notch and extremely professional. The food was excellent and everybody in the organization was a pleasure to deal with. They all went above and beyond to make sure we had a great time.

“What an experience! Luke’s knowledge of the station we hunted and his consummate skills as a guide made for fantastic hunting.  We saw lots of game and two spectacular stags, one of which became mine. Thanks Luke and the Monarch staff for making my hunt of a lifetime happen. We will do this again!”
