WHEN TO TRAVEL

When you choose to travel in New Zealand very much depends on your desired outdoor adventures. Remember being in the Southern Hemisphere the seasons are all upside down from in the Northern Hemisphere – winter is summer and Spring is Autumn, confused yet? Of course, you can travel with Monarch any time of the year and we have created travel only itineraries, sea fishing itineraries, and all sorts of mixed activities at various times of the year.

The best time to fly fish is from Spring in October right through to the end of Summer in late April.

You can hunt the big stags from February right through until the end of July or August. However the rut, or roar as it is known in New Zealand occurs from late March through to mid May. Your can find out more about the best seasons to hunt the different animals on our more hunting info

Of course heli-skiing is best in our winter months from July through to October. We can heli-ski in the Southern Alps right into the Spring and October.

We tailor our trips to meet timeframes and where you land and leave the country. We provide varying levels of vehicle transfers including helicopters, private jets and private vehicles. You can drive yourself using our rental car partners, have our guides do everything for you, or choose to fly everywhere.
