WHEN TO TRAVEL

When you choose to travel in New Zealand very much depends on your desired outdoor adventures. Remember being in the Southern Hemisphere the seasons are all upside down from in the Northern Hemisphere – winter is summer and Spring is Autumn – confused yet? Of course, you can travel with Monarch any time of the year and we have created travel only itineraries, sea fishing itineraries, and all sort of mixed activities at various times of the year.

The best time to fly fish is from Spring in October right through to the end of Summer in late April.

You can hunt the big stags from February right through until the end of July or August. However the rut, or roar as it is known in New Zealand occurs from late March through to mid May. Your can find out more about the best seasons to hunt the different animals on our more hunting info

Of course heli-skiing is best in our winter months from July through to October. We can heli-ski in the Southern Alps right into the Spring and October.

YOUR MONARCH ADVENTURE IS TAILOR MADE FOR YOU

No two Monarch trips have ever been the same. The sample itineraries shown on this website are to give you some ideas. From those itineraries you contact us. One of our travel consultants then works with you to create the perfect trip.

We have a massive portfolio of experiences many of them exclusive to Monarch like remote jet boating, a three town wine tasting by helicopter with the winemakers themselves, picnic lunches on the wold west coast or ski plane landing high up on the glaciers of the Mount Cook National Park. We tailor our trips to meet timeframes and where you land and leave the country. We provide varying levels of vehicle transfers including helicopters, high-end private vehicles including Range Rovers and Audi’s which are selected for their appropriateness to your itinerary, and private jets. You can drive yourself, have our guides do everything for you, or choose to fly everywhere.
