Christchurch and The Arrowsmiths

If you arrive in Auckland or Queenstown you will transit to the domestic airport for your scheduled flight to Christchurch - the gateway to the South Island and the stunning Southern Alps. From Christchurch you will then be transferred via private luxury transport to the Canterbury foothills on the edge of the Southern Alps to High Peak Station.

Monarch is extremely privileged to boast High Peak as a Winter Partner. Located in the central South Island, in a private valley at the head of the Selwyn River near the Rakaia Gorge, High Peak balances exceptional winter experiences with privacy and exclusivity.

Your Monarch Guide works closely with the heli guide to create a winter ski/board experience based around the Arrowsmith and Ragged Ranges. These are mighty high altitude glaciated mountain ranges running parallel to the Main Divide of the Southern Alps and described as 'big, steep and extensive'. There is of course hundreds and hundreds of runs for all levels of skier as well.  Combining history, knowledge, safety and adventure we'll deliver an epic few days of the best of the Canterbury back country skiing.

By night, the open bar and gas-fired hot tub will ease away your adventurous day while the cuisine with both delight and refresh you for getting up and doing it all again the next day. We also recommend

Your private helicopter transfer to Mount Cook National Park will leave after skiing on the evening of the third day, taking a scenic route over the Canterbury Plains and into the Mackenzie Basin, arriving at the incredible Ashley Mackenzie Lodge located in a private setting overlooking Lake Pukaki and Aoraki Mount Cook.

Mount Cook National Park

The majestic Aoraki Mount Cook National Park is a rugged expanse of untouched mountain ranges, blue lakes and wide open skies that make up the awe inspiring alpine UNESCO World Heritage Site that straddles the Southern Alps in the Mackenzie Region. It is also the single largest heli-ski area in New Zealand. Regardless of your experience, or your heli-ski level, there is powder here on the perfect run just for you!

Alongside the Mt Cook Region, we will ski the Tasman Glacier - the highest, longest and most scenic heli-ski terrain in NZ! A truly memorable experience

Off the snow, unwind in the Fantail Spa and prepare for an evening of sumptuous wine tasting and dinner followed by an incredible star gazing experience over Lake Tekapo as part of the UNESCO Dark Sky Reserve.

Heli-ski Queenstown

Queenstown is an Alpine Resort town situated on the shores of Lake Wakatipu with easy access via helicopter to a vast number of local mountain ranges including Hector, Eyre, Thompson, Humboldt South Harris Mountains and the Whaakari Conservation Area (and more...) - literally 1000's of hectares of skiable runs. The extensive terrain allows for anyone to ski or board from intermediate to expert, from new to seasoned powder hunter.

You can also expect to ski a variety of terrain types, from open faces to gully's and chutes, bowels to drops all above the tree line. The view will be spectacular irrespective of location! With a focus on maximising your time on the snow, we use trusted professional heli-ski guides with helipad access to a full variety of locations, so variable weather can be negated with a move to another site, and the run options on powder days are extensive!

By night Queenstown comes alive to the sounds of a bustling resort town. There are many dining options in Queenstown from Pacific to Asian, South American to Italian and we would be delighted to recommend our favourites. Queenstown is as famous for its fine dining as it is for its day time adventure activities.

For those not inclined to hit the back country, you have the option of staying in town and being a tourist for the day, or having an adventure day with any one of the amazing adventure activities on offer. Why not combine the Skyline Gondola with a fun Luge and Bungy Jump? Pop out to the historical gold mining town Arrowtown on the double decker red London bus? Take a wine tour or a day trip to the top of the lake, Glenorchy, or further afield to Milford Sounds.

However you decide to spend your time, your Monarch CEO is here to help and facilitate your adventure and exploration. Please just let us know how we can help you.

Otherwise, we leave you here in Queenstown to enjoy the rest of your stay in our beautiful part of the world.
